Review of Hotel Transylvania 2

Yesterday we got out of church and decided to go to the early showing of Hotel Transylvania 2. We hadn’t seen the first movie until a few weeks ago, and I knew we would have to see the second one when it came out. I figured I would let you know our thoughts on the movie in case you are considering seeing it.

Hotel Transylvania 2 is (obviously) the sequel to the first Hotel Transylvania. As usual, the story of the original movie was more typical, being a love story between a human and a vampire (like Vampire Diaries for kids, I guess). The sequel picks up the story after they get married, and now they have a baby. Drac, the girl’s father, hopes the baby will be a vampire, even when everything points to him being fully human. So, he sends the parents out of town and enlists the help of all of his monster friends to do everything they can for the baby boy to get his vampire fangs before his fifth birthday. I won’t tell you what happens at the end, but it is a very fun ride for everyone.

With a cast of Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Mel Brooks, Andy Samberg, David Spade, Fran Drescher, Keegan-Michael Key, and Molly Shannon, it would be difficult for this movie to be bad.

My seven year old gave the movie 4 stars, and my 10 year old said it was 4 1/2 stars. As a parent, I thought it was entertaining enough for me, and my kids were happy. There was one part at the end that was a little scary, but my kids handled it fine.

Here’s the trailer in case you have no idea what the movie is about.

Have you seen Hotel Transylvania 2? What did you think of it?
