I love going to Starbucks or any other coffee shop to get some work done. Since part of my job is teaching, I often have either studying, reading, or writing to do, and I will often take that work to Starbucks, get myself some coffee, and get to work.
I can't always get to Starbucks, though. Sometimes I get stuck working from my tiny workspace I have in our 1000 square foot house while my wife and 3 kids do homeschool downstairs. It's not the quietest situation you can imagine, but I have found a website and app that has helped me be more productive.
It's called coffitivity, and it's free on the App Store for iPad, iPhone, Android, and Kindle. If you're just sitting at your computer, you can use their website or download the Mac app.
The Solution: Coffitivity
The app gives you the sounds of a coffee shop in your headphones. It feels like you're surrounded by the ambient sound that gets you in that productive groove you need to get things done.
If you want, you can turn on your music from your device, spotify, pandora, last.fm, and a few other services. The ambient sounds from coffitivity stay on in the background so you can keep plugging away, listen to your playlist, and be transported to productivity nirvana.
If you can make yourself a latte or strawberry cream frappuccino, you'll feel as if you're right back at Starbucks, crossing things off your to do list with no problem at all.

Just make sure you tell your family you've got headphones on so they aren't worried that you're just ignoring them all day.
