We’re getting ready to take a family road trip. Over the next four days we will drive almost 2000 miles. It’s going to be a long trip, but I’m hoping to let my technology help me make it easier. Here’s some of my plan for making the road trip easier.
We all tend to do the same things every morning. We have to eat, drink coffee, read, journal, or whatever else is included in what you do. I have tried to make the most of my technology to get my mornings started right. Here’s what I do.
If you’re like me, you have subscribed to a bunch of email lists of things you love, but now you don’t know what to do with them. I used to get so many notifications on my iPhone, distracting me from important things that need to get done. It would drive me nuts to feel that buzz in my pocket, pull it out, and see that it was only a new Twitter follower. Then I found out about Unroll.me.
I love going to Starbucks or any other coffee shop to get some work done. Since part of my job is teaching, I often have either studying, reading, or writing to do, and I will often take that work to Starbucks, get myself some coffee, and get to work.
I can't always get to Starbucks, though. Sometimes I get stuck working from my tiny workspace I have in our 1000 square foot house while my wife and 3 kids do homeschool downstairs. It's not the quietest situation you can imagine, but I have found a website and app that has helped me be more productive.
